“And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 10:17.
According to this gracious covenant the Lord treats His people as if they had never sinned. Practically, He forgets all their trespasses. Sins of all kinds He treats as if they had never been, as if they were quite erased from His memory. O miracle of grace! God here doth that which in certain aspects is impossible to Him. His mercy worketh miracles which far transcend all other miracles.
Our God ignores our sin now that the sacrifice of Jesus has ratified the covenant. We may rejoice in Him without fear that He will be provoked to anger against us because of our iniquities. See! He puts us among the children; He accepts us as righteous; He takes delight in us as if we were perfectly holy. He even puts us into places of trust; makes us guardians of His honor, trustees of the crown jewels, stewards of the gospel. He counts us worthy and gives us a ministry; this is the highest and most special proof that He does not remember our sins. Even when we forgive an enemy, we are very slow to trust him; we judge it to be imprudent so to do. But the Lord forgets our sins and treats us as if we had never erred. O my soul, what a promise is this! Believe it and be happy.
நினைவுபடுத்திக்கொள்ளவே மாட்டார்
அவர்களுடைய பாவங்களையும் அவர்களுடைய அக்கிரமங்களையும் நான் இனி நினைப்பதில்லை. எபி.10:17.
கிருபை நிறைந்த இந்த உடன்படிக்கையின்படி கடவுள் தம் மக்கள் பாவமே செய்யாதவர்கள் என்று கருதுகிறார். அவர்கள் பாவங்களையெல்லாம் உண்மையாகவே மறந்து விடுகிறார். எல்லா விதமான பாவங்களும் செய்யப் படாதவை போலும் தம் நினைவிலிருந்து அகற்றப்பட்டு விட்டவை போலும் கருதுகிறார். இது கிருபையினால் ஏற்பட்ட அற்புதமாகும். இங்கு ஒருவிதத்தில் கடவுள் தமக்கு முற்றிலும் பொருத்தமற்றதைச் செய்வதாகக் சொல்கிறார். அவர் இரக்கத்தினால் எல்லா அற்புதங்களையும் விட மேலான அற்புதத்தைச் செய்கிறார்.
இயேசு தம்மையே ஒரே பலியாக ஒப்புக்கொடுத்ததனால் உடன்படிக்கை உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஆகையால் கடவுள் நம் பாவங்களைப் பொருட்படுத்தாமல் இழந்துவிடுகிறார். நம் பாவங்களினால் நமக்கு விரோதமாக கோபங்கொள்ள அவரைத் தூண்டி விட்டுவிடுவோமா என்று அச்சங்கொள்ளாமல் நாம் அவரில் மகிழலாம். அவர் நம்மைப் பிள்ளைகளாகக் கருதுகிறார். நீதிமான்களாக ஏற்றுக் கொள்கிறார். நாம் முற்றிலும் பரிசுத்தமானவர்களாக இருப்பது போல் நம்மைக் குறித்து மகிழ்ச்சி அடைகிறார். பொறுப்புள்ள இடங்களில் நம்மை அமர்த்துகிறார். அவர் புகழை நாம் காத்துக் கொள்வோம் என்று நம்புகிறார். நம்மை அவர் சம்பத்தின் காப்பாளராகவும் நற்செய்தியை அறிவிப்பவர்களாகவும் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார். நாம் தகுதி உள்ளவர்கள் என்று கருதி ஊழியத்தையும் கொடுக்கிறார். நம் பாவங்களை நினைப்பதில்லை என்பதற்கு இது சிறந்த அத்தாட்சியாகும். ஓரு பகைவனை நாம் மன்னித்து விட்டாலும் அவனை நம்புவதற்குத் தயங்குகிறோம். அவ்விதம் நம்புவது விவேகமானதல்ல என்று நினைக்கிறோம். ஆனால் ஆண்டவர் நம் பாவங்களை மறந்து நாம் பாவமே செய்யாதவர்கள் போல் நம்மை நம்புகிறார். என் ஆத்துமாவே இது எவ்வளவு சிறந்த வாக்குறுதி என்று நினைத்துப் பார். அதை நம்பி மகிழ்ச்சியாயிரு.
